Quality Matters standard 3.4 states that "The assessment instruments selected are sequenced, varied, and appropriate to the student work being assessed." This means that a class composed completely of multiple-choice assessments will not receive Quality Matters recognition. Standard 3.5 states that "Students have multiple opportunities to measure their own learning progress." This also reiterates the need for more than testing as a means of assessment. Why do you think Quality Matters has chosen to take this stand against high-stakes testing, or any one-type of assessment in an online/hybrid course? Even more, do you think a course with only multiple-choice assessments clearly measures student learning? Why or why not?
