9.4 Chapter 9 Discussion
Chapter 9 has 1 discussion for you to complete.
Chapter 9 Discussion
Answer the following discussion question on the Week 4 Chapter 9 Discussion forum in your Blackboard Training Course. Your response should be at least 150 words, and you should respond to at least two of your peers (at least 75 words) to receive credit for this discussion:
Many new online instructors are surprised that both Quality Matters and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) require student-to-student interaction in online courses. Online courses are not the same as correspondence courses. In correspondence courses, students do not interact with other students. Instead, they simply complete assignments and submit them for a grade. In an online course, students interact with other students as they master the course objectives. These interactions provide diverse perspectives and encourage critical thinking.
You are currently participating in an online course, so student-to-student interaction is included each week. Besides the discussion boards, what are some ways online instructors might meet Quality Matters Standard 5.2: "Learning activities provide opportunities for interaction that support active learning"? What IS active learning, anyway? Identify two specific tools for student-to-student interaction.
