8.3 Writing Summary and Next Steps
At the end of a week, students expect to know what is coming the following week, and if there are any tasks they should start ahead of time. To provide this information to your students, the Summary and Next Steps component of your weekly template requires modification.
To do this, locate the Week 1 folder on the Course Content page through your Course Menu. Scroll to the bottom of the weekly content until you see the Summary and Next Steps component.

Left-click on the double arrows next to the Summary and Next Steps header and select Edit.
You should see a screen with text tools that look a great deal like Microsoft Word. Additionally, you should see a title line and a large white box (which contains the Summary and Next Steps you created in Chapter 7).
This is a reflection component. You will write a statement about what the student learned that week, plus give the student instructions on what to do next. This is a good place to leave reminders about big assignments on the horizon.
For example, if your students have an upcoming assessment or project, providing a reminder in the Summaries and Next Steps section serves as a strong reminder.
